„Wintermusik“ was recorded on the 21st and 22nd of December 2007 by Nils Frahm at Durton Studio. It was originally intended as a Christmas present for his family and friends - making this very personal music.
The three pieces on „Wintermusik“ are a combination of piano, celeste and reed organ. „Ambre“, the short introduction to the album, is a quick idea of what might be coming up, calm and simple. The centerpiece, „Tristana“, at more than seventeen minutes long is much more complex. The piano is playing with celeste and reed organ, which flits between cautious and gentle touches and a determined interplay. Moods are constantly changing from melancholic and dark to positive and brighter tones. The release ends with „Nue“. Though this may seem to have an even more hopeful and sparkling atmosphere, it is still shrouded by a melancholic note, but that fits perfectly with what the artist has to say about this: „When I'm listening to sad music it doesn't make me sad, it just makes me happy.“

Nils Frahm, born in 1982, had an early approach to music. During the younger years of his life he was taught piano by Nahum Brodski, and through this he began to immerse himself in the stylings of the classical pianists before him as well as the ECM-influenced soundworlds of today.
At the age of 12 he began to form various band constellations to explore different fields of music, like electronic orientated soundscapes which informed his first solo record „Streichelfisch“ in 2005.
But it could be argued that the career of Nils Frahm is only just beginning. In early 2008 he founded Durton Studios, where he continues to work as a composer and producer. It was in this studio that collaborations took place between Nils and artists like Peter Broderick, F.S. Blumm or cellist Anne Müller.

„Frahm weaves multiple melodic lines into delicate and highly mobile wholes that are as entrancing as they are pretty.“ (Textura)

„This is simply a disk of engaging, well-played music, suffused with a positive vibe.“ (Richard Allen, The Silent Ballet)
