Remixes by Recondite, TM 404, John Tejada, Yves De May & Paul Jebanasam

To finally close the chapter on the triptych of Ricardo Donoso's "Progress Chance," "Assimilationg the Shadow," and "As Iron Sharpens Iron, One Verse Sharpens Another" we brought in five diverse and respected artists pick tracks off the latter for remixing. The results are all over the place and provide an exclamation point to the end of this phase of Donoso's discography.

Yves De Mey opens the proceedings with a nerve-wracking, midnight black take on "The Sphinx." It slowly builds until the listener is almost driven to madness by layer-upon-layer of skittering synths. Recondite, hot on the heels of his acclaimed Hinterland album, brings "Diagonal Environment" straight to the dancefloor with a driving 4/4 beat that adds a steel backbone to the track.

On the flipside, Subtext figurehead Paul Jebanasam offers up the most abstract cut on the record with the dark and winding "Affirmation" remix. Jebanasam's trademarked style is out in full-force with the intricate compositional elements and blasting cinematics. It's a slight respite before the club-ready version of "The Redeemer" pops in from John Tejada and the acid-soaked version of "Open Drawer, Full of Masks" by TM404 closes out the proceedings. All-in-all, the "Iron/Verse Remixes" close a fruitful chapter in Ricardo Donoso's trajectory, leaving the door open for endless possibilities to come.
