Bala Club collective co-founder and NTS host Endgame made his production debut earlier this year, serving up a fine EP for experimentally inclined imprint Purple Tape Pedigree. Clearly Kode 9 was impressed, as he's snapped up this follow-up for Hyperdub. There's much to admire throughout, including a fine collaboration with singer and producer Organ Tapes ("Flesh", the EP's tasty title track). Arguably best of the bunch, though, is opener "Felony Riddim", where cut-glass melodies and synthesized bells tumble over a punishing, stabbing sub-bass line and strutting, distorted drum machine hits. It's undeniably dark and murky, but with enough melodic positivity and exotic electronics to overcome the track's clandestine vibe.
